Harmill Systems supplied two machines for a project to replace a 215m section of Jubilee Line tunnel lining between Baker Street and Bond Street stations dating from the 1970s. The concrete tunnel segments were replaced by cast iron.
After successful trials, the Segment Handling Plant (SHP) started on site in June 2013. The final tunnel ring, number 359 was installed in June 2015.
The Segment Handling Plant designed and built by Harmill Systems enabled a safe and efficient changeover process.
The repairs were undertaken during engineering hours and day closures of the line.
This project was winner of the ‘Greatest Contribution to London Award’ at the Institution of Civil Engineers London Civil Engineering Awards 2014. Learn about this project in the ICE video.
The hydraulic scissor lift has a maximum safe working load of 8 tonnes. Sitting on top of this is a slewing table, which allows easy fine positioning of the equipment.
The vehicle is controlled by a radio remote. This has a digital display to show faults and other messages. There is also a screen on the vehicle itself, which displays the charge, speed and motor power.
A bespoke platform can be designed to accommodate any depot geometry.
Front end access platforms can be made with road and rail wheels.
This trolley facilitates the safe, quick and easy removal of various parts from the underside of a train.
A load of up to 600kg can be supported on a 800 x 1400 mm platform.
Telescopic arms extend across the track. The shuttle lift table can then be moved under the train, along the rails.
The shuttle has a hydraulic lift mechanism and a slewing table bed. The slewing table is operated by handles that move it 50mm in each direction. This allows easy positioning to reinstall equipment.
We can provide a variety of solutions for handling train doors and windows.
We can modify standard mobile elevated work platforms to include cranes and special handling devices to suit your task.
Equipped with a vacuum lifter, this battery powered vehicle greatly speeds up the replacement operation.
A small cart with manually operated winch makes removal, installation and movement of doors simple and easy.
Vehicle is driven using a tiller arm control, similar to a powered pallet truck.
This versatile vehicle reduces the need for additional fork trucks or cranes.
Quick and efficient handling of loads, no set up time or outriggers required.
Powered crane with lift/lower, telescopic jib with up to 2.2m reach, powered slewing with 360 degrees rotation.
Crane control from tiller head or remote pendant.
State of the art electric vehicle design and control with AC motors, regen braking and on board charging.
Bespoke designs possible for restricted access and specific tasks.
Up to 1000kg platform load.
Up to 500kg crane capacity.
Platform size 550mm to 850mm wide x 1200mm to 1500mm long.
2.3m closed height, up to 3.5m lift height.
Weight: 1500 kg
Max speed: 1 m/s
3 & 4 Wheel designs.
Stacker type truck with forks and loading crane, interchangeable attachments available.
This cart was constructed to handle ATO equipment from the cab. The equipment weighed 65 kg, but was very awkward to handle and susceptible to damage. This neat solution not only removed the manual handling risks, it also speeded up the operation.
Available as single or double unit.
Computerised control with automatic output of pressure shown in graph form.
Built-in cranes for loading axles and axle boxes. 100 tonnes maximum pressure.
