Baker Street to Bond Street Relining Segment Handling Plant
Harmill Systems supplied two machines for a project to replace a 215m section of Jubilee Line tunnel lining between Baker Street and Bond Street stations dating from the 1970s. The concrete tunnel segments were replaced by cast iron.
After successful trials, the Segment Handling Plant (SHP) started on site in June 2013. The final tunnel ring, number 359 was installed in June 2015.
The Segment Handling Plant designed and built by Harmill Systems enabled a safe and efficient changeover process.
The repairs were undertaken during engineering hours and day closures of the line.
This project was winner of the ‘Greatest Contribution to London Award’ at the Institution of Civil Engineers London Civil Engineering Awards 2014. Learn about this project in the ICE video.
